Maytree goes International!
With the arrival of two new staff members, Kim Turner and Pat Tobin Maytree will launch Cities of Migration this summer. This new project will link cities and city regions globally to promote the integration of migrants. It will capture good integration practices and stories, and showcase and disseminate these to support a lively exchange of ideas between many stakeholders. By doing this, Maytree hopes that London learns from Toronto, Toronto learns from Lisbon, and so on, and so on.
New Grant for Poverty Reduction
Maytree is pleased to announce a grant of $100,000 per year for two years to the Ontario Employment Education & Research Centre for the Workers’ Rights Information & Support initiative. The initiative will provide information, education and support to newcomers, women, immigrant and racialized workers about their rights at work and how to address workplace problems.
“We are very excited to have the support of the Maytree Foundation. There are so few resources available to workers, especially immigrant workers, that provide them with accessible information and support when they face violations of their rights in the workplace. This is an excellent opportunity to address this important need,” said Brenda Campbell, administrative coordinator at OEERC.

Public Policy Training Website Institute goes West!
The Calgary-based Max Bell Foundation is launching a Public Policy Training Institute which was inspired by Maytree’s own PPTI. MBPPTI was developed using Maytree’s PPTI curriculum and is accepting applications for its first year.
“Maytree has long had a well deserved reputation for leadership and innovation. When we first learned about Maytree’s Public Policy Training Institute, we had a strong sense that it would be tremendously valuable for participants. We’re grateful to Maytree for leading the way on this initiative, and hope to live up to the standard of excellence that’s been set,” said Allan Northcott, senior program officer with the Max Bell Foundation.
We’re pleased the model is being replicated and wish the Max Bell Foundation every success with their program! For more information about the Calgary-based program, and an on-line application form please visit: www.maxbell.org/mbppti.
