DiverseCity Voices: A free online media database

DiverseCity Voices is one of eight initiatives of DiverseCity: The Greater Toronto Leadership Project. It is a free online resource listing subject-matter experts representing the city’s diversity. These experts are easily accessible for comment on a broad range of issues from energy to the arts and sports to the economy.

Fresh perspectives in the media

The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) has long been known as a region with many immigrants, welcoming people from around the world with the promise of opportunity and prosperity. It is one of the most diverse regions in Canada, with a visible minority population projected to exceed 50% by 2017.

While there is no absence of diverse voices in the media on such issues as immigration, multiculturalism or diversity, these voices are absent on a wider range of issues.

The goal of DiverseCity Voices is to identify diverse spokespeople across a variety of subject areas and connect them with journalists to enrich the quality of print, radio and television news in the GTA.
