15 Leadership Journeys

Maytree’s Leaders for Change (LFC) program gives social activists and community leaders in the Toronto area the opportunity to build leadership skills, to identify and reflect on critical issues facing our society and to apply new knowledge and insights. The program was launched in 1999 and now boasts an alumni base of more than 120 community leaders.

In its early years, LFC focused on leaders in the immigrant and refugee settlement sector but since 2003 the program has expanded to include community leaders from all sectors and backgrounds. The core principles of the program are collaborative leadership and diversity of people, ideas and approaches.

15 Leadership Journeys showcases a number of community leaders who have participated in the LFC program. Their stories of social change reveal their passion and their vision. The range of styles, issues and values demonstrates that leadership takes many expressions and comes in many forms. We hope that these stories will inspire you and move you to action.
