Tom Williams
Professor, School of Policy Studies, Queen's University

Tom Williams is a Professor in the School of Policy Studies at Queen’s University and holds a similar position in the Faculty of Education. He teaches courses in Management, Conflict Management and Mediation in the M.P.A., M.B.A. and M.Ed. programs at Queen’s University.
An experienced manager, Tom has occupied such diverse management positions as Vice Principal Operations and Vice Principal Institutional Relations at Queen’s University. He has also served as the Dean of the University’s Faculty of Education for nine years and most recently was the Acting Director of the Queen’s School of Policy Studies.
Tom is an active researcher. He is interested in management development and training, the management of large scale organizational change including public sector mergers, board development in public sector organizations and, means of resolving conflict in public organizations.
Tom is a frequent speaker on leadership development and also is active as a mediator. He serves frequently as a facilitator with a wide range of both elected and appointed boards in nonprofit organizations.
In his community work, he is a past chair of the Board of the Kingston Family YMCA, a past member of the Board of the Kingston General Hospital where he chaired the Research/ Development Committee and the Planning Committee and served on the Governance Committee. In the past he has held executive positions on the boards of several other Kingston volunteer organizations.
He is married to Maureen Farson, a partner in the Kingston law firm of Cunningham, Swan, Carty, Little and Bonham and they have four children and four grandchildren.
