Federal Social Policy Agenda
Published on September 6, 1993
This memorandum to the next Prime Minister encourages the federal government to carry out an informed and open review of social programs. The memo draws attention to the myriad changes that Ottawa has already made to social programs. It discusses the economic, demographic and social pressures on these programs, presents figures on social spending and explains the factors contributing to their upward climb. The Caledon Institute calls upon the next Prime Minister to renew federal commitment to and national leadership for social programs.
