Opportunities 2000 (OP2000) is an innovative community-based program to reduce poverty in the Waterloo Region of Southwestern Ontario.  Its works with various community partners to develop initiatives that enhance employability.  This special edition of real leaders profiles three individuals who are involved in Opportunities 2000: Pat Henderson, Jim Gordon and Frank Adamson.  Pat Henderson is co-chair of OP2000’s Leadership Roundtable which unites representatives from various sectors in the community in order to develop a long-term strategy for poverty reduction.  As a Vice-President at the Royal Bank, Jim Gordon helped establish a partnership between the bank and OP2000 in order to share the expertise of the business community.  Frank Adamson, former Executive Director of the United Way of Cambridge and North Dumfries, engaged his organization in helping OP2000 develop local community economic development projects.
