Social Assistance Summaries, 2017
Published on 24/04/2018
The Social Assistance Summaries resource presents data, provided by provincial and territorial government officials, on the number of social assistance recipients across Canada. Maytree assumed responsibility for this resource from the Caledon Institute of Social Policy, which wound down in November 2017 after 25 years.
In this first edition of Social Assistance Summaries to be compiled by Maytree we wanted to make the resource more useful and accessible to its readers. There are two main difference:
- Alongside the PDF reports, all of the information can now be read online on the Social Assistance Summaries pages of our website, and
- We have made the data available to download from the website for researchers and analysts to use in their own work.
We hope that these changes make this resource more useful for you. We welcome any other ideas you may have about making better use of this data. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Social Assistance Summaries was established by the Caledon Institute of Social Policy to maintain data previously published in the Social Assistance Statistical Report by the federal government. In 2018, Maytree assumed responsibility for updating the series.
