This community story focuses upon the Toronto Public Library (TPL), the second busiest library in the world with the second largest collection of materials in North America. TPL’s commitment to serving the needs of its patrons has raised awareness of the notion of access, in terms of both materials and programs, and of its role in promoting citizen involvement in Toronto’s cultural renaissance.
