Civil society organizations urging federal government to strengthen human rights in Canada
While Canada likes to position itself as a leader and champion of human rights, it has struggled to implement its international human rights commitments domestically. This was once again highlighted at Canada’s recently completed fourth Universal Periodic Review at the UN.
On Tuesday, November 5, eight human rights experts and advocates will appear before the Subcommittee on International Human Rights of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development (SDIR) to argue for a stronger focus on advancing Canada’s human rights record here at home.
