A Social Vision for the New City of Hamilton
Published on September 1, 2002

This Social Vision was prepared at the request of the Social and Public Health Services Department of the New City of Hamilton and was approved by Hamilton City Council on October 22, 2002. The Vision presents a rationale for why local governments should be concerned with social issues, and makes a link to the City’s new Economic Development Plan. It discusses ways to engage citizens and the business and voluntary sector in developing a broad social plan for the community. The document includes detailed plans for three possible flagship initiatives in the areas of children and families, skills development and affordable housing.
