Peel Region’s Summer Job Challenge

In the summer of 2010, Peel Region launched the Summer Job Challenge, expanded it in 2011 and made it a regular program in 2012.  Offering eight-week administrative, service and labour positions to youth who had been unsuccessful in the Region’s first round of student hiring, the Challenge has been a runaway success.  All it needed was an employer with the imagination and willingness to reach a little beyond its usual hiring practices.
