TIES 2 Work: Employer-Specific Training in New Brunswick
Published on 05/05/2009
This story describes an initiative that creates a match between employers and potential employees by providing essential skills training. Successful job candidates receive 12 weeks of classroom and on-site training and are guaranteed a job at the end of their formation period. Employers get job-ready, pre-screened employees. This project is similar to a job training initiative operating in St. John’s, NL called “Makin’ it Work.” Vibrant Communities organizers in both cities have learned from one another’s efforts.
